The Public Library El Tintal Manuel Zapata Olivella is one of four major libraries that belong to The Capital Network of Public Libraries of Bogota - BibloRed. Its name pays tribute to the most important representative of the Afro-Colombian literature.
The Tintal is located on Avenida Ciudad de Cali, in the southwest area of the city in an ever-expanding area that is surrounded by low-income neighborhoods. It serves users who live in the towns of Kennedy, Bosa and Fontibon. Thanks to its strategic location, it is accessible by bike trails and neighborhood roads as La Alameda El Porvenir and the bike trail from Avenida Ciudad de Cali.
In recent years, the Library has become a path to knowledge, information and expressions of culture through programs and services tailored to the needs of its users.
The library is surrounded by three wetlands: La Vaca, La Chucua del Burro and Techo. Reading and nature are the protagonists of different children's workshops that motivate their sensitivity, their creative writing skills, their reading habits and interest in the care of nature.
